Meet the Pals …

Old PalsThe Old Pals are a bluegrass band from California, united by decades-long friendships and the camaraderie of playing music when the members’ other individual band schedules permit. Most of the Pals have known each other since the early days of bluegrass in California.

With members that are some of the most well known in the west, the Old Pals are set to burst onto the scene with a running head start. Craig Wilson plays guitar, Butch Waller mandolin, Larry Cohea banjo and Matt Dudman string bass. When possible the Pals are joined by Paul Shelasky on fiddle.

You’ve got to know that with this combination of musicians you’re gonna get nothing but powerhouse traditional bluegrass. And when we say “traditional”, we mean the paint-peeling, “hair still on it” kind of bluegrass that’s about as retro as it gets!

“To say the Old Pals will be the icing on the Parkfield Bluegrass Festival's cake might be something of an understatement ... having this all-star quintet make their festival debut at Parkfield is a dream come true!” Ed Alston, California Bluegrass Association
