Motivated Diablos

Hi folks,

Well, some nice news for today. Pleasant Valley Music old-time artist Mt. Diablo String Band is now a Squirty Records recording artist! Yesterday we had a visit from the band, consisting of ‘Meistro’ Harry Liedstrand (fiddle), Carl Pagter (banjo), Harry’s wife Cindy (guitar) and son Terrell (mandolin), Carl’s son Corbin (mandolin), and PVM’s own Matt Dudman (string bass), here at Pleasant Valley’s Squirty Records Studios to record the band’s first demo!

In just two short hours the band showed up, rehearsed, set up the studio, and laid down no less than 6 tunes. Matt engineered the session, adding that “It was one of the easiest sessions I’ve ever done, on the engineering side. These guys are old-time all the way. We just set up a couple of room mics and sat around and picked! There was no mixing or mastering to do! Just burn it to a CD!”

For a little taste of how it sounded listen to a clip here.

The session went so well that there was even talk afterward about moving toward actually doing a full length recording, so keep your eyes peeled for it!
